Trial Process
All players must register online to trial. A non-refundable registration fee will be included in this process regardless of participation, to cover turf/umpire costs. This trial fee is deducted from the seasons fees.
Trials are usually held at Auckland Grammar School turf and Diocesan School turf
For details of dates and times for trials please refer to above Trial Dates section
Teams are selected based on players’ attendance and performance at these sessions
Squads will be named 7 days after the final trial and will be displayed on the Club website.
Premier & Premier Reserves trials
The Premier teams are the flagship teams of our Club. They provide for marketability resulting in financial sponsorship and thereby given priority team status including desirable training time and venues. Selection to a Premier team is through playing ability as a priority. Being a “good” club member is a value that we hold strongly however at premier level this is not the determining factor in selection.
There will be a minimum of 3 field trials.
Physical testing is at the discretion of selectors, but if required will supplement selector observations at field trials. An alternative testing date will be made available for those players who were unavailable at the initial test.
The first Premier trial is open to all senior players who are at Premier or Premier Reserve standard. Remaining trials will be subject to invitation/notification. Players may be asked to attend Senior Division trials, as well as Premier trials.
Invitation/notification to remaining trials will be via the Club website.
The total number of players selected to each squad will be predetermined by the coaching and selection staff. Players will be notified prior to trials.
At the completion of the trial process a squad/team list will be displayed on the club website within 7 days of the final trial. This may not be the “final” team. This notice will display a notification date.
N.B. The trial process may include pre-season matches.
Players have 5 working days from notification date to confirm their place in the team, this will include subscription payment or structured payment plan arrangements.
Failure to confirm your place will indicate to the Club a negative registration response and team placement will be offered to the next available player.
Only those players who are being “moved down” will be contacted prior to public announcement. Players will be given opportunity for verbal feedback should they request this by writing to the Club Development Officer within 5 working days from team announcement.
During the season, players may be moved between teams for reasons of form loss, disciplinary issues and any other reason deemed appropriate by Team Coach/es in consultation with Club Development Officer and respective Club Captain.
