Summer academy is now open to Somerville players that will be Years 3 - 8 in the 2026 season.

Participants will be formed into groups based on ability, skills will be appropriate for the level of each group with the focus on basic skills across the entire group.
Waitangi Day is on the Friday 6th February that may affect the group numbers for the Sunday 8th February session.

Passing | Hit forehand, push, push hit, edge hit
Receiving | Upright forehand, flat forehand
Carrying Ball | Open carry, Indian dribble
Fun Games

Passing | Hit forehand & reverse upright, edge pass, push, push hit & hit on the run
Receiving | Upright forehand & reverse, flat forehand & reverse, protecting the ball on receipt, positioning to make next pass
Carrying Ball | Open carry, Indian dribble, elimination skills
Tackling | Open play, back 3rd & circle defence
Goal Shooting | Forehand & reverse, 2 hand slap, deflections
Advanced Skills | Overheads, slap, hook spin, shooting at different heights, 3D skills
Modified Games
Group 1 | 8:00am-9:30am
Group 2 | 9:30am – 11:00am
Session times will be finalised based on the groups and skill levels
