All Committee roles
Work collaboratively with and support other committee members in their roles
Contribute to identification and resolution of cross-club challenges and opportunities, and the advancement of the Club as a whole
Participate in or lead sub-committees or working groups, aligned with terms of reference and priorities agreed by the Committee
President
Provide strong leadership and guidance to the club, ensuring adherence to the club's constitution, policies, and values. Chair committee and general meetings, facilitate decision-making processes, and collaborate with the committee members to achieve club objectives.
Lead identification of key strategic challenges and opportunities; direct efforts to ensure these are addressed, driving growth and development of the club.
Act as the primary representative of the club in external engagements, including liaising with regional hockey associations, sponsors, and other stakeholders. Promote the club's interests and maintain positive relationships with relevant organizations.
Foster a positive and inclusive club culture, ensuring members feel valued and engaged. Implement initiatives to attract and retain members, promote participation, and provide opportunities for player development at all levels.
Vice President
Assist President in managing operations, including: coordinating activities, overseeing committees, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
Collaborate closely with the President to provide guidance and support in meeting the responsibilities of the role of President
Support the President in succession planning efforts to ensure a smooth transition of leadership when necessary.
Secretary
Fulfils compliance responsibilities required of the Secretary by the Constitution and the Incorporated Societies Act (e.g. being a Club contact person).
Focal point for all the administrative aspects required for the efficient and effective running of the Club, including: timely attention to correspondence; record keeping; general matters requiring the MC’s attention; organisation of meetings, agenda-setting and minutes; etc.
Lead organisation of the Annual General Meeting, including: notices as required by the Constitution; materials to allow members to submit their interest in the AGM elections; procedural aspects of undertaking the business of the AGM, including reporting and elections; and completion of minutes.
Treasurer
Fulfils compliance responsibilities required of the Treasurer by the Constitution and the Incorporated Societies Act
Prepare Club budget for the year, with appropriate supporting analysis, and including recommendations for fees and subscriptions
Collect subscriptions and follow-up late payments, with support from Club Captains
Chair finance and investment committee
Seek additional funding opportunities and prepare grant applications
Report financial performance; monthly to MC; and annually through preparing annual financial statements, working with the auditor as required to support their responsibilities, and presenting these for member information and approval at the Annual General Meeting.
Club Captains
Each role as relevant to the Club Captain’s area of responsibility for playing hockey in the Club.
Ensure that all elements necessary to allow teams to commence the season are fully organised. Including: organisation and communication of trial arrangements; appointment and support of selectors; finalisation of team selections; recruiting of suitable coaches and managers; organisation and booking of practice venues; equipment (including balls, PCD gear, cones and bibs, first aid, etc); and other activities as necessary
Provide coaches and managers with information necessary to comply with competition requirements (e.g. eligibility, dispensation, use of PlayHQ, etc)
Ensure communication is maintained, both out to teams and across teams (through managers primarily), including website materials, Facebook updates and other communications as required, thereby supporting development of a positive club culture
Address any issues that arise with players or teams through the year, including interfacing with Auckland Hockey regarding disciplinary matters
For annual prizegiving, ensure awards, event logistics and invitations are organised and the event runs smoothly
Ensure all equipment distributed at the start of the season is returned in fair condition
