Team Player of the Year
(completed by Coaches & Managers only)
For the best “Club member” in each team. To the person who contributes well to the team in all areas – playing, practicing, discipline, Club support, administration.
Coach of the Year
The Hamlin Trophy is awarded in appreciation of coaching work and service to the Club over the year. This includes but is not limited to season results and the number of years of contribution.
Club Person of the Year
The recipient of the David Watt, (Bloody good bloke) Tankard is someone who is active on all fronts: playing, supporting & social. Embodies the “Dave” spirit of just being a good bugger and being there for the club.
Exceptional Services to the Club
An outstanding Club member whose contribution to the Club over a number of years is deserving of special recognition.
Services to the Hockey Community
For a committed long-term and current Somerville member, not necessarily a player;
A voluntary contributor to AHA, NZHF or other Hockey bodies whether as a Manager, Coach or Administrator;
Has given service in one or more of the above disciplines over a period of time; Has performed these services with distinction, and has achieved recognition for such service by the Hockey community at large.
School Girl of the Year
To a Secondary school girl in any open grade team whose playing ability, club service, attitude, etc, stands out.
School Boy of the Year
To a Secondary school girl in any open grade team whose playing ability, club service, attitude, etc, stands out.
Most Improved Player - Women
To the player from any team in open-graded competition who has improved most during the season or since the previous season. The player’s dedication to training and practicing in order to improve would be a factor.
Most Improved Player - Men
To the player from any team in open-graded competition who has improved most during the season or since the previous season. The player’s dedication to training and practicing in order to improve would be a factor.
Player of the Year – Women
The outstanding player in the Club. Usually a Premier team member, but others at their respective level may well be considered. Playing ability the sole criteria with higher honours e.g. elite, NZ rep often important.
Players should have played for their club teams at least 80% of the time that they are available.
Player of the Year – Men
The outstanding player in the Club. Usually a Premier team member, but others at their respective level may well be considered. Playing ability the sole criteria with higher honours e.g. elite, NZ rep often important.
